A Missionary's Life!

Whats up guys,

It was a super good 3rd week of my mission. This past week has been a super good week. The food is still somewhat good depending on what you get, and the beds still aren't the best but they are working. Elder Picanco is still killing it and he's awesome. My district is still super cool. we are all super close and it's gonna be hard to leave them on Friday when we leave. I love them all with my whole heart. I wish we were all going to the same mission, but unfortunately all good things have to end.

Monday 12/04/23- P-day! I kinda went over it in the last email but to give you a run down we did an endowment session, yes the provo temple is open on monday's but only for like 5 hours. We got kicked out but ONLY because the temple was closing. Then it was on to doing our smelly laundry and trying to be big boys, because our moms aren't here to do it for us. While our laundry was going round and round I called my family who I love dearly. And wrote last week's email. Then I went to class that night and that was it really.

Tuesday 12/05/23- Started out with breakfast, I don't remember what it was but it was decent. Then we had a class where we talked about our teacher's struggles and so we gave him missionary encouragement. We also talked about how to teach out of the Book of Mormon. After we had lunch, we found a piano and played hymns. So don't worry mom and grandma I am practicing the piano. We then had a devotional where Elder Deittera from the quorum of the 70 came and spoke. He talked about how to be better missionaries. He invited us to do 5 things, I think anyone can do. Those 5 Things are: Commit to scripture study, see challenges as opportunities, build bridges of conversion, adjust your message to people's needs, and live with eternal perspective. Last thing for that day, I am part of the MTC choir and we sang a song called testimony. It's "I know my redeemer lives" just to a custom tune and it's a super cool song.

Wednesday 12/06/23- Today was a great day, starting out with breakfast like always, cause hungry missionaries aren't a very pretty sight 😂. Then we had a class like always, in class we talked about our first helping other activity. Helping others is where people come in as actors as we teach them things so we can practice our teaching skills, then they score us. Me and my comp did a decent job so we watched our video and learned things we need to work on. We then had lunch which I had like Hawaiian chicken and rice with teriyaki sauce and it was really good. Then me and my comp met up with 2 other elders and just chilled. Then my comp had a meeting with our branch president so I hung outside the room and studied for class. In class my comp and I taught alma 37 to our class, and talked about using scriptures to teach.

Thursday 12/07/23- Had breakfast then class where we talked about how to answer questions about same sex attraction, because I guess that is a super common topic people ask missionaries nowadays. My district left class early to go to the temple, we did sealings. While we were doing sealings, my district just did observing so we just watched. The coolest thing happened tho, one sister from another district sealed her grandma to her grandma's parents!!! and that was a really cool thing to see and be there for that. When we got back from the temple I got a notification that my fam sent me a package so I went and picked it up. They all sent me handwritten letters which were super sweet and I may or may not have cried. I then wrote them all back. Then we had a class where we talked about how to teach prayer and then we did roleplaying with another district.

Friday 12/08/23- Started out with food then went to class, at class we talked about questions we all had. We then had lunch then a workshop about how to use/post on social media. We had another helping others appt. We talked about how to become closer to God and it was so good we scheduled another one for her. Then on to dinner, I don't remember what it was but I wasn't a fan of it. We then went to class that night, I wore my AMERICAN FLAG TIE all day and everyone loved it except my nighttime teacher, she said it was too loud. So I had to surrender the tie and wear a different tie. But in class we talked about the Book of Mormon and Elder Jaynes and Elder Tompson taught half the lesson. The spirit was so strong, we all left in tears. We also took pictures in front of the trees. See pics.

Saturday 12/09/23- Started out today with breakfast like always. Then went to class and talked more about how to teach using the book of mormon. After that, we had a helping others appointment and it went decently well. I then did my personal study and got invited to go Play volleyball with the district. We play for a  good while, I'm surprisingly decent, but I'm Still sore from it🤣. We then had class again, your probably getting annoyed by all the classes but that's a missionaries life in the MTC. In class we talked about using the book of mormon to answer questions. And I struggled with it NGL. But that's part of the reason I am here is to learn how to be a missionary and a better person.

Sunday 12/10/23- Today we started out with breakfast and it was honestly super good, you can never go wrong with cold cearel especially tootie frooties. We then had our priesthood lesson then had Sacrament. Honestly church is the MTC is like fire. It's just always so good and the spirit is so strong. After church we had our go and do experience and in the introduction of it, when everyone in the mtc met together, a guy sang a song called "Simon of Sirene" and oh my goodness. I haven't heard a guy sing that good. Like I was impressed and almost in tears. The song talks about Jesus christ and being crucified. We also watched a video on Jesus being crucified and the spirit was super strong. We all left in tears, then I spent the rest of the time learning more about the crucifixion. I then went to choir practice and we are learning OH Come All Ye Faithful, for this upcoming Tuesdays devotional. I will give you details on next week's email.

Well, that is pretty much for this email. overall, it was a super good week and that we learned a lot. Make sure you take a look at my pictures. Because they are pretty great. I just want to leave with saying that If you read the scriptures and pray and stay faithful. You can live with God again. Also this is the last email ever sent from me at the MTC, because I head to California on Friday.
