Interviews and "I'm calling the cops!"
Howdy, welcome back to another episode of Elder Bennetts shenanigans. This week was a good week. It felt fast and slow at the same time. I said by to one of my best friend missionary, who unfortunately went home early. But I worked my guts out, physically and spiritually. Enjoy this week's report of the lords work.
5/13- Give me a P, Give me a D, Give me an A, and give me a Y. That spells P-DAY!!!!!!! That's right folks, another p-day in the books. We started off by going shopping, nothing to crazy to report on that. Besides the point that Walmart only has 1 register open at 9am. So in order to check out, it takes almost as long to check out as it does to get all your stuff. Anyway, we left Walmart, came home and cleaned the apartment then went to the church building. I called the family, played the organ and hung out with the zone. We then came home and hung out. We also decided to make some dinner. And so I went from Elder Bennett to Chef Bennett 👨🍳🍳. I made some fire Buck Alfredo, your probably wondering “what is buck Alfredo?” Well, allow me to explain this wonderful meal to you. So, when I was in Loomis, I went to a member's house/Kelley's for dinner on a Sunday night. It was some amazing Mississippi pot roast done with Elk Meat. I mentioned how I love wild game and I was a hunter back home, as soon as I mentioned those 2 things, bro Kelly said “one sec, I'll be back” he came back with some Elk and Deer Meat and some fish. Anyway, I cooked most of it while I was in Loomis. I brought Elk steaks and ground Deer to Antelope with me. I had the Elk steaks a while ago, then I cooked up this wonderful ground Deer tonight. I then boiled some noodles and dumped Alfredo sauce into the meat. I then assembled the plates and dug in, OMGOSH it was almost too good to be true. After the first bite I almost fell over backwards. It was so amazing, in the meantime Elder Heppler was cleaning the bathroom, pic Below in the pics. We then hung out with the other elders then went to bed.
5/14- We started the day out at 6AM!!! If you know me, that isn't an issue. We went to the church at 6:40AM to help out with the seminary. It was honestly super fun, they were doing this game thing where the juniors had to ask the seniors questions, and it was up to us missionaries on who had the better answer or question. It was a blast, I really love the youth out here in California. They are so awesome because they are the minority, there aren't that many LDS kids out here as there is in Utah. Anyway, we got done with that then went to Brother Berejkoffs house, he took us to breakfast at Huckleberry's. It's pretty good, but not the best. The best is Grannie Annie's in Bountiful or Layton. While we were there we payed for the food without brother Berejkoff noticing. So basically we were enjoying the food, the waitress came over and gave us the check. While Bro Berejkoff was on his phone showing us quotes he had found. Heppler gave me his card and said “Breakfast is on us today!” So the waitress walked by and I said “here you go” as she walked away with hepplers card. Bro Berekoff looks up and realizes what just happened. The look on his face was awesome. We then finished Breakfast then came home did our wonderful studies, had lunch then we made some contacts/Lots of contacts. Went to the stake patriarch house cause his wife is a seamstress and is going to fix my LEVIS that ripped. We then had dinner at the church, a member brought us Carl's Jr. We then street contacted on the way home. That's it basically for today.
5/15- INTERVIEWS WITH PRESIDENT BASHA!!!! We started out the day with the regular routine of breakfast, getting dressed and studying. After that we went to the mission office and had a wonderful district council. I then played the organ, while playing sister Basha (the President's wife) walked past. She stopped, walked back, poked her head in the Chapel. And said “Elder Bennett, you can play?” I said “Ummm maybe????” She said “Have you ever played in Zone Conference?” I said “No but I've led the music so why not add this to the mission resume”. So basically I could be playing in a zone conference now. Anyway, we went and had lunch and a super good Mexican place. Came back, had our interviews, and started our exchange with the District Leader. I'm going to be chilling with Elder Hilton for the next 24 hours 🤘🤣. We then came home and went to our dinner, the family we had dinner with, the mom, come to find out it's my grandma Browers cousin. We then street contacted, and went to bed.
5/16- We started off the day by going to Brother Berejkoffs house. We talked about how to become super strong men. It was kind of fun, don't worry I'm already a lot bigger with muscles. We then came home and did studies, then we got a phone call from another set of missionaries. They asked if we could go visit a guy, so we did. A 30 minute bike ride away and crossing 2 bridges we made it. We met him and gave him a BOOK OF MORMON. We then went back to the church, I videoed a lot of shots for my introduction video on my Facebook profile. I also played the organ for a while. We then came home and met up with Bryant and Henniger. We went with them to a baptismal interview, we then dropped them off at the church and we went to our dinner appointment. It's Thursday so that meant we went to Heather's for dinner. It was awesome like always, we then left her house and drove to Folsom which is like 25 minutes away. We were hanging out, just talking and playing card games. Then the games got a little intense, and then I guess to much intense because the front door got pounded on. The other elders knew exactly what was about to go down, so they left. The door is still getting pounded on, and somebody needed to answer because if not, that door was coming down hot and fast. So I answered the door, and behind the door was an old Hispanic Lady. She started yelling at us, she was like “You guys are being to noisy, YOU GUYS ARE ALWAYS CAUSING PROBLEMS. STOP JUMPING AROUND, ITS 9 AT NIGHT YOU GUYS NEED TO BE QUIET!!!!!😡🤬🤬”
I replied with “Sorry ma'am, I don't live here. I'm just visiting for the night 😀”. She instantly replied with “THE NEXT TIME THIS HAPPENS I'M CALLING THE POLICE”. I replied with “Okay ma'am, have a good night”. “Ya right 🙄” she responded. I closed the door and said “Well that's a first, after that we said our goodbyes and left. We then eventually got home and went to bed.
5/17- We started off by going to Sister Collins house. We helped her with her drip system in her yard. We then came home and had lunch, we did our studies and made some contacts then we had a lesson with the Daniel Family. We brought a service missionary with us, and it was so much fun. It was an awesome lesson. We then got home, jumped on our bikes and rode to panda express for dinner. A member wanted to meet us there for dinner. In the time there, we saw the other Antelope elders who also went there for dinner with a member. It was super funny, we then came home and worked on my intro video. We then got the crazy idea to rearrange our office so we did. And then we went to bed.
5/18- We started out the day with Brian picking us up and then we went to the church and helped clean the church. After that fun time cleaning the church, we went to Sister Smith's house and I dug a super deep hole 🕳 in her backyard. She had some tree roots affecting some of the plumbing pipes. I got it all dug out, it was about 3 feet deep and it was a blast, I loved every second of it. We then had tacos that she made for us. We came home and did our studies and then left to pick up a meal calendar from one of our WML'S. We then went to help a sister who is coming back to church, move. It was pretty fun honestly. We then came home and did some facebook work. Then we had dinner and wrapped up a few loose ends of the week and called it a night.
5/19- Today was an awesome Sunday. We woke up and showered and got ready for the day. Then the other Elders called us and said “we are all invited to stake MCM and it starts in 30 minutes, so we gotta go like now”. So we went to that meeting and it was kind of fun. We then went to church and nothing crazy happened, besides me saying the closing prayer in one of the wards sacrament meeting. After church we weekly planned, and then we went to Brian's house for dinner. We came home, did our studies. We then had a massive Zoom call for out miracles we've seen in the mission. We then called it a night.
Thanks for reading this wonderful report. I want to leave you with a thought. This thought has been on my mind a lot this week. I saw a quote a week that said “Your not a failure because you don't make it, you're a success because you tried”. A mission is super hard, and people go home in general a lot more then I thought. But if you went home early from your mission, or thinking about it. I just want to say that I'm proud of you for trying. In life generally, not mission life. We all fall down, we all fail with things. But don't think your a failure because you didn't make it to the end. As along as you tried to best, that's all that matters most. God loves us all the same and he knows our struggles, he knows what we are good and bad at. God wants to help you when you fall. So I invite you to pray and ask God when your feeling down or like a failure. Because I promise you that if you do that, you will feel God's love and he will comfort you. In the name of my savior, Jesus Christ Amen.
That's it for this week, remember that I love you, God loves you, and that your family loves you. Adios!!!
P.s- Congratulations to all of you seniors who graduate this week. And congrats to all of you who are finishing up your last week of school for the year.
