More Redneck Shenanigans and Miracles

Howdy yall, this email is going to be a bit different, I have been super busy this week and I have barely made time to write in my journal, so yall are getting a week of miracles. So sit back, grab a BOOK OF MORMON, and read it when your done reading about this week's shenanigans.

So first I want to tell you about this transfer so far. So I think I said this last week, but I'm whitewashing. Which means both me and my companion are new to the area. And typically when you whitewash an area, it's already set up and ready to go. But this time it's different, you see we are in a “Brand new area”. Meaning that this area used to be double covered with another area, but it's no longer that. It's just single covered now, and so that's always fun. But what makes this transfer so much fun, is currently we don't have a SIM card. So we have no way to contact anyone, no phone number attached to us, and no WIFI. Your probably asking yourself, “Well how does that affect missionary work?” Allow me to explain, since we aren't able to contact anyone, we are just stuck with knocking doors and street contacting people. We are able to do Facebook work, or extra study stuff (since I'm training) if we go to the library. And since we don't have a phone number attached to this area, we have no AREABOOK (Records of everyone who has been taught, being taught, or members). It's not a huge deal, just kind of annoying.

On top of having no SIM card, we also have been dealing with tons of bike problems. So you all probably remember as well, when last week Elder Anderson's chain broke. Well we got his bike fixed and we found another bike from an old missionary apartment. But that's besides the point. The point is, this week my bike broke. Here's the story, so we were biking down the road, and I noticed my pedal crank was getting kind of loose, so I was like “crap, we are like 5 miles away from home and it should be fine, I will fix it when I get home.” So I kept riding on it, and it just got worse and worse. I was thinking uh oh 😳, she's gonna fall off. And then “thunk” it fell off, and I didn't have a socket set to put the crank back on. So I whipped out the good Ole piece of rope, don't stress I had a 40 ft bundle, not the 2ft piece of rope, the one from the last time we had to tow eachother home. We tied one end to Elder Anderson's bike and the other end to mine. And he drug me home like 7 miles, poor elder. But he wanted to return the favor from last week.

We got home, and we live across the street from an autozone. So we went to look for a new bolt since mine was stripped and trashed. We tried to find a bolt but they didn't have the size we needed. But a worker named Brayden came over to assist us, he is a return missionary of 2 years and his parents live in our ward. (we had dinner with them last night, and he was there as well.) Anyway, he couldn't find the bolt size we needed. So he said “Elders, I know what it's like to be in your shoes, and I'm off work now. So I'm going to clock out, since I've just been chilling. and I will take you to ACE hardware (10 miles away) and we will get you the things you need.” So that's what he did, he clocked out, drove us across Roseville to the Ace hardware. We found a bolt, and a socket set (to put it back together with). We then went to the check out stand and the teller rang it up, and said “total is $17.35” I whipped out my card to pay and Brayden whipped out his card and said “I'm gonna pay because there was a reason I stayed after work longer, and I didn't know why till you guys walked in.” So he payed for the things and then drove us back to our apartment, and then we got the bike fixed.

Yall, talk about a miracle!!! Brayden is definitely a legend. And yall I want you to know that God is real, if God wasn't real, then Brayden would have not been at work later and we would have not gotten the bike fixed. Another thing that happened this week is we have found people.

So since we really can't do Facebook work or other things that use a phone. We have been tracting like 6-8 hours a day. And if you know me, I love knocking doors. It's one of my favorite things to do, and here's why. You never know what your gonna find behind that door, and is it the most effective way of finding? No, but your able to talk to people and yes you get tons of doors slammed in your face but there is always one person needing to see you. So that happened twice this week while tracking, someone was needing the gospel. So 1st, we went tracting in this huge neighborhood with lots of no soliciting signs. But we knocked the ones that had no “no soliciting” signs. One of the houses we knocked, an older lady probably in her mid 70s answered. We gave our spiel and she was like “tell me more about Eternal families!” So we did and we got to know her a lot more, her name is Ann and she swims a mile every morning in the club pool. And she walks 2 miles as well. She told us that like 5 times. Anyway we are going back this week to see her and teach her some more.

The 2nd story is really cool, but also kind of sad. So on Friday, we went tracting in this one neighborhood. Kind of a small neighborhood, but there were a lot of formers in that neighborhood. Anyway we talked to a few people and nobody showed any interest. But it was the last door on the street, and we knocked it and this little kid opened the window next to the door. We talked to him about God's love for him, we then asked “do you believe in God?” He responded with “idk, I'm not sure if he's real or not'' so we bore our testimonies and he said, “thank you, I'm pretty sure I believe in God now.” We gave him a card with our info on it and left. So I'm hoping we lit that fire back up.

So as you can see, this week has had miracles in it. Even though life is hard and especially missionary life. There are always miracles happening around us. So I invite you to look for those miracles. They can be something pretty small as the sun is shining. I want you to know that I love you, God loves you, and you're freaking awesome.❤️❤️❤️
