“Hey sir! What makes you happy?” “Killing cats” 😳🤔🤷
Howdy yall, this week was an interesting week to say the least. We had Bashers, wanna be Bashers, weirdos, and lit member contacts. Take a read and enjoy this week's shenanigans
⅞- P-day!!! Just another pday honestly, we woke up, and started out our day by going to Walmart and got some food for the week. (Also the ward im covering are no bueno at feeding us) 😂☹️ we then went to the Doctors for Elder Anderson. Well long story short, he's in the boot for another month. So we get to keep the car for another month!!! We came home and got ready to go to the church. We then drove to rocklin to go a card game store, because another missionary we live with, needed some cards. Well the store was closed, so we went to the church. And I called the family, played the organ, and hung out with other missionaries. Sister Johnson also taught me how to play the Guitar, and now I wanna learn more. I also played Water Pong with some missionaries and that was a blast. We then came home when p-day was over, and we went tracting and nobody was super interested. But that's okay, because not everyone is going to accept the gospel. We then came home, had dinner, and went to bed.
On Tuesday the 9th, we went to the temple!!!!! Now this didn't come without some “oh crap” moments. You see, we woke up and did the normal routine. We then called President Abinante (1st counselor in mission presidency) to get permission to go to the temple. He said yes, but he wanted us to go to the Sacramento temple. Which is awesome, but we already had reservations at the Feather River temple. (Which is in the mission) So we did some quick “oh crap, let's reschedule our appointments.” We got it all worked out, then we went to the temple. Now, I should probably explain why President Abinante wanted us to go to the Sacramento temple. So the Sacramento temple is closer, and the stake I'm serving in, their temple is the Sacramento temple. Anywho, the temple was awesome. I saw so many service missionaries or other missionaries that I knew. I even saw people from my last area. And that was so fun seeing them again. You really don't know how much of an impact you leave on people, till you leave and you see them again and they remember who you are. But after the temple, we went and got McDonald's after, for dinner. We'll I was eating and this big blot of ketchup fell out of the burger and on my shirt. Luckily it was after the temple, but I was like “Oh Crap”. We then made it home, and did our studies. Then we went to bed, because we were exhausted.
On Wednesday 7/10- We woke up, hit the gym. We came back and got ready for our day. We then went morning tracting, nobody was interested 😒. So we came home, grabbed our suit coats and went to Rocklin for a baptism. The baptism was for President Basha's 2 grandkids. And the grandkids wanted all the missionaries there. So we went, and supported them. Well right before it started, I went to use the restroom. I walked in and looked in the mirror, and noticed I had a blue suit coat, with charcoal gray suit pants. 😳 Yep, I wore 2 different suits to our mission presidents grandkids baptism. Great job Elder, great job 👏. Anyway after that “oh my” moment. I walked into the Chapel, and saw Andrew who I taught in Loomis along with Brother Addley, who is a member missionary in Loomis. I love them both so much, so of course I went and sat by them and chatted with them. The baptism was awesome, and afterwards they fed us all food. We then came home, and did our studies. We had dinner and then went tracting. We came home and called it a day.
Thursday 7/11- We started the day with starting an exchange, now this exchange was kind of different. So I live with our district leader, and so Elder Anderson moved his books over to their room. So we were all around each other, just when we were out and about we were each other's companions. Anway, went to the gym and then came back and got ready for the day. We did our studies, prepared lunch for our district council. We then got on the bikes, yep I'm biking today. So we left and went tracting, and I accidently chose an area with a crap ton of No soliciting signs. But we talked to some cool nice people, one dude even gave us Gatorade. It was so awesome, we then went to a lesson with a guy named Landon. Landon was taught in the past, then he reached out and wanted to meet again. So hopefully we are able to help him come closer to God. We then biked home and went to District Council. It was really good, we then came home, got on our bikes and went our bishops house for dinner. He took us to The Habit and it was super good. We then did some street contacting and we found a dude named Tyler. So hopefully he stays interested, but we shall see. We then watched the sunset, then biked home and called it a night.
On Friday 7/12- We started the day with a fire mentor call! Our mentor gave us some awesome ideas to find people. And after the call was over we went to the dollar store because I had a super clever idea. We bought a foam poster board, and I wrote What Makes You Happy??? on it. We then went tracting with it, think of a promposal, but with missionaries. It was super fun, we would knock and when they answered we asked them what made them happy? We would then give them a sharpie and they would write there answer on the board. We then talked about it with them, and then bring the gospel into it. It was blast, and one door we knocked was a member and it was kind of awkward for half A sec, but he's a super awesome dude. We then left his house and walked around the corner and saw 2 kids shoveling a huge pile of rocks. We offered service and they accepted. So we shoveled rocks for like an hour in full proselyting Clothes. It was fun and hot, we then went to the mission office to pick up some things we needed. I love our office missionaries so much. Especially the Tripps and Elder Johnson. We then went home and did our studies. After our studies, we went back out and made some more contacts and did some tracting. We had some super cool contacts, we decided to go to the park to do some contacts to around like 7:30 PM. Now this is where the title comes into the story. We went up to a guy with the board, and asked what made Him happy. And this were his exact words “Turning on the sink, and holding a cat under the water till bubbles don't come up” 🙄 😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳😳 Yep, that is what I was not hoping to hear today. I'm pretty sure the guy was being sarcastic, but it was funny and definitely made an interesting conversation. We then left that conversation and met these 2 dudes who tried bashing with us, but they didn't know anything. So I was whipping out scriptures from the Bible to back up my point and prove them wrong. I felt like a legend after that conversation with those 2 dudes. We then came home and went to bed.
Saturday 7/13- We week up and did the normal routine. We then decided to go morning tracting, and it was okay. Didn't really have any good contacts so we decided to go knock doors in another spot. And we did, we met this one Asian dude and he was agreeing and bashing at the same time. I don't know how that works, but it was kind of interesting to say the least. We then reached out to a lady who responded to a post of mine on Facebook about service. And she said come over, so we went over to this lady's house. Well little did I know, I was going to install a security camera. So I became a professional security camera installer. And after that kind of fun shenanigans, we went home and had lunch. We then did our studies, then more contacts. We went tracting and then got ice cream at this really good ice cream place in town. We then came home and called it a night.
Sunday 7/14- Started out our day by getting transfer boards. And yall, these boards were crazy. Just to give you a rundown, Elder Anderson is leaving me and going to Auburn. I'm staying here and becoming District Leader with a car, and another companion who is an awesome dude. We then did a whole bunch of phone contacts, then went to church. We were able to talk to the APS because their ward is right before ours. Church was super good, I love going to church so much. Elder Anderson was able to say bye to some awesome members. We then came home, had lunch, and then did our studies. I started to prepare for my first ever DC as a District leader. We then went to Jeffras house to say bye, and it was super sad because Elder Anderson and Jeffra got along super well. We then went to the park and shot a video for Facebook, check it out after you read the email. We then went tracting for a minute and nobody was interested. So we went to our dinner at the Watts house. We love the Watts so much, they are a super cool family. We had tri tip and fried rice. And if you know me, I love both of those things. We then went to the trail after and street contacted and watched the sunset. We then came home and I worked a little bit more on my DC. Then I called it a night, well tried to that is. You see we live in the bottom apartment. And the people above us are super noisy. So we have a 2x4 we use to tap the ceiling to tell them to be quiet, and that was not working, so we knocked on there door and told them to be quiet. They never really got quiet till like 11:30 at night. Sonthay was no fun, but we survived.
Well yall, that was my week for you. Moral of the story, have a good firm foundation literally and spiritually. Just like in Helaman 5:12 “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall” I invite you to strengthen your foundation, so when people tell you that your church is fake or whatever the situation may be, you cane be able to let it roll off of you vs drag you down. I hope yall have a great week, and see you next week. Adios!!!!
