Service at 9pm? You bet your bottom we did!!!
Good day Yall, hope you had an awesome week. We are going to keep this short and simple because this week flew by, and nothing crazy happened besides 2 things. So enjoy this short email about my crazy life in california.
So to get started, we did an emergency stove eviction. So on friday night, a set of sisters called us to help move a stove that a member got. So we drove over there expecting to just move a stove from outside to inside. Well, we were wrong! We got to the house and there was no stove outside. So we went and knocked on the doors, and the sisters that called us were with us. Anywho, we get inside and the old stove door is shattered. Like the glass on the front door of the stove was non-existent. (look at the photos for more detail) Anyway the lady who lived there asked if anyone has ever moved stoves? Well, I said I had from helping my neighbor back home with appliance repair. So I started the removal process, and this stove was super duper gross. It was covered in grime and I don't know what else there was. But I shut the gas off, and unplugged the oven. I then went to remove the gas line, and I asked them if they had a wrench to undo the line. Well they didn't, but I remembered I had a Crescent wrench in my bag. So I grabbed the wrench and went to undo the line, and the wrench was a hair too small. So after some phone calls we found a member in their ward who had a wrench we needed. So we left and grabbed it, then we came back. When we got back the husband had gotten back with the new stove. So I undid the gas line, and moved the old one out and put the new one in. We then got some other things situated for them. We then dropped off the wrenches, and went home. Because at this point, it was 9:35 at night. So basically it was an adventure and it would have been cheaper to just replace the door, then to buy a new/used oven.
Another awesome thing that happened was that on Saturday, Sister Collins from Antelope came up with Dale (her Boyfriend). And they took Elder Kahaialii and I to a really good Ice Cream place. It was super fun to catch up on life and to hang out with them. They are the coolest people ever, and I love them so much. They brought so much positivity in my life, when I felt at my lowest. I was in their area when my parents got divorced and I thought that my life was at the lowest. They were super awesome and made me super happy in that hard time. So it was super fun, and the best part of my week.
And finally we had interviews with President Basha on thursday, it was a blast. He asked me a lot of questions, and the best answer I could give him was “I have only been in this area for 2.5 weeks, so I don't know what's best.” But it was pretty good to chat with him.
Anyway, thats it for this weeks email, hope you have an awesome week. We will chat next week. Love you, make sure you see the pictures!!!
