Rough days and smooth spirtual moments
Howdy y'all, welcome back to another recap of my awesome adventures. This week went by really fast, we did an emergency trip to Redding, and we had General Conference (Which was awesome) and we even got transfer boards. So sit back, grab your Dr. Pepper, and enjoy this email.
So on Monday 9/30, we had our p-day. So we did our shopping and the weekly cleaning tasks. We then went to the Roseville stake center and hung out. I played the piano and some card games with other missionaries. I also called my family, which is always good. Then when p-day ended, we went home and had some dinner. Then we did some more video editing and then called it a night.
On Tuesday 10/1- I started out the day with some fire breakfast burritos. Then we got in the car and drove to a small town called Colussa. Which is about 1.5 hours north west of Roseville. We went and met up with the Social Media Hermanas, and filmed a Jalapeños for Jesus episode. It was pretty fun, we then went to a super good Mexican restaurant with them and ate some super good food. Then we jumped in the van and drove up to Gridley to do another music video. It was fun, but it took 4 hours and it was a long shoot. We eventually got home and had dinner, then did more social media stuff.
Now Wednesday 10/2, was probably mentally the hardest day so far on my mission. So basically I started out the day okay with everything going to DC. And as soon as I got to DC, I all of a sudden hit a wall of emotions. I just hit a rough patch, I didn't want to be at DC nor around anyone. If you know me I am not like that, anyway we started our meeting, and then we did zone device audits. And so another Elder, paired up with me and started going through my phone. When he got to my facebook, he noticed I had a small scrolling problem. But in my defense I have been looking for videos to make, then all of the sudden. He stands up and starts saying “Elder Bennett is a bum!” and says it like 10 times in front of everyone. Now this just made me really mad, but I didn't let it affect me. (well tried too) We had DC, and our DL didn't prepare anything so it was very on the spot and kind of dumb. Then after I had lunch and then I couldn't handle the comment that was said about me and everything else. I had to take a breather, so I walked out of the kitchen and started going towards the chapel to play the piano. I tend to find peace in music, as I was walking one of my ZLs came and asked if I was doing okay, and I said “I'm doing okay just having a rough day” and of course I'm trying to hold back my emotions. And I walked away with tears running down my face, I got to the chapel and started playing the piano. Then all of a sudden, I thought to myself “Elder Bennett, are you going to let someone tear you down like that? Suck it up you sissy, you're better than him anyway”. I then went back and talked to one of my favorite missionaries. IFYKYK! And they helped me and talked and listened. We then went back home and did a video with Sister Heyward who is a service missionary. And then we went back to the rest of our day, and we had some more crap hit the fan as a SM team. But the craziest thing that happened was that we got a call saying our drone was back from the repair place after we broke it. So we went and got it from the mission office. We opened the box, and everything was in there but the Drone. They did not place the most important thing in the box. Whoops! Anywho, we got home and went to bed because we all had a super rough day.
Now Thursday 10/3- We woke up and packed our bags for Redding Pt. 2. So we got in the car and drove up to Gridley to do a music video. It was kind of rough with recording the audio, but we got that done. We then went and grabbed a ½ size upright piano from the sisters house and took it to a lake. We filmed it and in total it was about a 4 hour shoot, but it should be pretty decent when it's done. We then drove up to redding and did another video. We got to the Shasta lake apartment, did some video editing and then went to bed.
On Friday 10/4- we woke up, got ready, packed our bags and left to the sundial bridge to do another shoveling video. We met up with the sisters that were going to do it with us, and went to the actual bridge. We tried interviewing people, but nobody wanted to talk, so it was a waste of time but that's okay. We then went to the Anderson stake center and shot another video with a bunch of missionaries. We then went to lunch at Sonic, it was honestly pretty good. I also forgot to mention that the Social Media sisters joined us for lunch and the rest of the day. They were there for a baptism and to learn more about shooting videos. We then drove back to Redding and did a video that had a harp in it. We have a super cool sister missionary who knows how to play so it was a really fun shoot. We then got in the car and drove all the way back down to roseville. We got home, had dinner and then went to bed.
Now Saturday 10/5 was the General Conference. So we went and hung out with 8 other missionaries at the Daytons house. They live in the Roseville 3rd ward. They are a super cool family, they also made a lot of good food. We were there all day long, but it's fine because Elder Stewart and I did some yard work for them. We got back from their house, and had dinner. Then we did some video editing, then we went to the gym then went to bed.
On Sunday 10/6, we woke up to Transfer Boards. I and Elder K are staying on the SM team, and in Roseville 1/9 ward. So it's lit, I won't complain at all. I get to be his last companero ever, so that's cool. We then went to the Chesires house and watched a conference session with them. They had some fun games to play and so it went by really fast, we then went home and met up with the other Elders. I also took a 20 minute nap to process all the amazing things that were said at the conference. We then went back to the Chesires house to watch the last session of the conference. After the conference ended, we went back and weekly planned and then went to dinner at the Metcalf’s house. It was really fun and the food was amazing. We came home and did more video editing. We then called it a night and turned out the lights.
Well, that's my week for you. Hope you enjoyed reading it, also I invite you to go and look at the conference talks. They were all super good and I promise you that you will learn something new from them. Well, hope you have a good week and talk later. Love you bunches
