Howdy yall! I know it's been a hot minute since you last heard from me. My past few weeks have been crazy busy and I haven't had time to write one of these things. But to catch you up to speed. I am still alive (Obviously), still on the social media team, and I have hit a whole whopping drumroll please???????? 13 MONTHS!!!!! That's right, I have been a missionary for Jesus Christ for 13 months. And it has been a blast, I have learned so much. And I will be honest, it has been hard, now doing these long days isn’t hard for me. What's hard for me at least, is being away from my family, and it's even harder for me when I know that my home life is going so differently when I get home. As many of you know my parents got divorced back in the late spring/early summer. And I know people say that lives are different post mission, but mine is going to be very different. But enough about the negative, there has been so much going on out here and even home that has been awesome. And that has really shown me that God is Real and there is a reason for everything. The moral of the story is Hang on, keep going, if your life sucks right now. Hang on because it is about to get a whole hecka lot better.
Well I guess let's start on Monday 12/23 on that day's recap! We just had our P-day, we went shopping and of course we had to get hotwheels because that’s what I have been addicted to lately. HotWheels and soda! Sounds pretty dope if you ask me. We then went to the church and hung out, it was fun to see other missionaries who I enjoy hanging out with. I got to call my family, and it was super amazing. My call with my dad hit so hard, we have had amazing calls the past few weeks. But today was one that changed how I see my mission. We talked about how I hit my 13 months and how fast time flies. And one thing he said, really stuck with me. He said “Now is the time to be obedient and to do things that you have been asked to do”. He continued to say “You have less than a year left to be on the lord's errand, and once your time is up to serve and love the people in California, it's over”. It was one of those things that really made me want to do more and better! I invite you to do something better, even if thats 1% better. The better we become we are able to be our bestselves and do the lords work.
On Tuesday 12/24 we started our day with studies, then of course we had to go to Maverick. Because it's the lord's gas station and when you're on the lord's errand you have to go to his gas station. (Sorry that's probably sacrilegious) But anyway, we then went to the stake center for the District Council. It was pretty fun, we played BeanBoozled. Its basically a game with jelly beans that look the same but they are either good or bad flavors. After DC, I played the organ for a while. We then came back home and did some facebook work. We then went to starbucks and met up with Sister Collins from Antelope. We are now meeting up monthly to catch up to speed on things and to hang out with my mission mom. It was so good to meet up with her and she also had some amazing insights on things and was super awesome like she always is. We then went to Rocklin to have dinner with a lit family, they are the sister of the lady who does our meal calendar in first ward. It was a blast, we had some good food, we even played some Christmas games. I then performed Silent Night on my guitar and it was okay. Not the best run through but it was okay. We then went home and ate some cookies and went to bed.
On Wednesday 12/25 we started out with calling the family, and opening presents. We then went to the Calls house for some amazing cinnamon rolls. We then went to the church and played nerf guns. It was super dope, we then went to our dinner and it was fun to hang with members and played some cool games. We then went home and I called my dad and talked to him for a while. Then I went to bed.
.
On Thursday 12/26- We went to the temple, and it was so fun. And it was really fun to see members from Loomis. We also recorded some audio for a video we are doing. We then went home and did our studies. And then we made some contacts and that was about it.
On Friday 12/27- Honestly we didn't do that much. We just made contacts and did some actual missionary work. It was fun to do actual missionary work instead of sm work.
On Saturday 12/28- It consisted of missionary work and lots of shopping for new equipment. The reason we needed new equipment is because our audio mixer took a dump and so did the lense for our camera. And so it was fun to go look at options and prices. And I actually learned a lot about equipment. But the main thing I learned was that this stuff is super expensive. That was pretty much our day.
And on Sunday 12/29- We woke up and got transfer boards!!!! I'm staying here in Roseville 1/9 and on the Social Media team. I also get to stay with Elder Johnson and I’m super excited to be with him for another transfer because I love him so much. Elder Rees is going to Chico to train a new SM Elder. It's going to be fun but also interesting having SM elders up north in the mission. We then went to church and hung out with some dope members. But to be honest with yall. The church was super boring and as dry as burnt toast. We then came home and did our studies along with lunch. We then went and had a meeting with the rest of the Social Media team and we talked about this upcoming week. We then went home and organized our SM equipment. We then went to bed and called it a night.
So you're getting a weekly double. Because you're just that lucky, and sorry I have been horrible at these things. My days are super busy but I know I'm just making excuses for not doing it to the best of my abilities.
On Monday 12/30- We had our regular pday things. And nothing crazy happened so I wont bore you with the details. We also had dinner that got dropped off to us. So that's a W! Oh ya we also ran into a kind of crazy lady that's a new/less active member. We have done lots of things for her. Like moving things in a rat poop infested storage unit or whatever else. She was telling us about an experience she has been having with being attacked by night monsters??? Idk, I couldn't tell you so we talked to her for a long while about it. The moral of the story is DON’T DO DRUGS AND DRINK ALCOHOL, it tends to mess with your mind.
On Tuesday 12/31- We started the day with our studies, then we took Elder Rees to the dentist. While he was inside we sat in the car and didn't do anything really, because we couldn't leave him. But that was a while then we went to the dr office for me to do some blood work. #Crohnlife okay, well we attempted it but they were closed early for new years. But the door was unlocked and the sign said open. So it was kind of awkward when I walked in and they said they were closed. We then went to the mission office to grab things for Elder Rees and Olsen to take north for Social media things. And then we got home and had some lunch, then we went to the dentist office again. Because Elder Rees wanted/needed to get cavities filled. Dang cavities! We then went to the post office to drop off a camera Gimbal that was broken. If you don't know what a camera gimbal is, it's a device that we mount a camera to, and as we move the camera, the gimbal stabilizes the shot. It's pretty fancy but unfortunately they tend to break sometimes. So we got that shipped off to Texas to get repaired. We then went home and Elder rees continued to pack and Elder Johnson and I edited videos. Then we went to a part member family, and we shared a message/taught a lesson. It was super fun and super good. We then went home at 8, because of new years eve curfew. We did stay up till midnight, because you know gotta stay up for the new year. It was honestly a party and I'm glad to be out of 2024! Font get me wrong, it was a good year. But I was ready for a new year. Anyway, after some partying, we went to bed because it was like 1 am.
On Wednesday 1/1- We woke up and I jumped on a call for Social media leaders all around the world. It happens every Wednesday and it’s fun to see other missionaries who are doing what I am doing. We then went to Maverick to get drinks because why the frick not. Then we came back and loaded up the van with all the things for Elder Rees to take up north for social media. Then we took some pictures with the elders we live with, then we went and picked up Elder Hurst and Hall. And by this point, we were hungry so we went to McDanks (McDonalds) for lunch. It was fun to have lunch with them and to spend time with them for the last time for a while. We then went to the church, and it was fun to hang out with all the missionaries there. While we were there, I pulled out our drone and flew it around to get some cool shots for our mission president's wife. We then said bye to Elder Rees, and headed home. When we got home we put our apartment back together. We then did some social media work, and then went to dinner. Our dinner was okay, we went to probably the most righteous, clank, interesting members out here. Don't get me wrong, they are nice. But not my cup of tea, anyway we ate some plant based turkey burgers. And it was kind of a very interesting dinner, but we survived. We then came home and went to bed.
On Thursday ½- So today was a pretty good day. I don’t remember all we did, but we did missionary work and met some cool people, but nobody was super interested in wanting to learn more about the restored gospel. That's about it for the day.
On Friday ⅓- We woke up to some beautiful rain falling from the sky. So we planned out our day then we did our studies. It was some pretty fire studies, NGL! We then went to Maverick to get gas in the van and to get sodas. Because that's a must, lol! We then came home and had lunch. Then we went out and made some contacts to some inactive members. Nobody answered the first few houses. So we decided to knock on some doors, and nobody answered the door, really sad. So we went to visit a guy who was at one time a member, we knocked on his door, then he came to the door and said I will meet you in the garage, and not gonna lie, I was concerned for like .5 seconds. Because I thought this dude was going to bash us, we ended up talking to him for over an hour about random things. We talked about his custom built triumph motorcycle, god, the love god has for us, and even skate boards. This dude had some dope tats, and a bandanna on. This was the kind of guy that a lot of missionaries wouldn't talk to, because he looked kind of scary. He was also very musclely. I have decided that the people who have tats or look kind of scary, tend to be the nicest. They have the coolest stories, because they have been through hell and back. I love people who have tats and ride motorcycles. Because like I said on the outside they are really scary, but they have hearts the size of the world just filled with love and care. We then went to dinner at the mason’s home, they are a super cool family. I played my guitar for them and I even had the masons in tears because the spirit was so strong. We then came home and did social media work, then went to bed.
On Saturday ¼- We woke up, and headed straight up to Lincoln to pick up an audio interface to record music with. There is a super cool member, that I have gotten to know really well, that has a lot of cool toys for doing audio and video things. So we picked up the mixer, then we came back home and did our super gas studies. We got back in the car and drove up to Yuba City to do some audio recording for a song that Sam (Elder Kahaialii) is working on. It was fun to be back up there, I also was able to see some dope missionaries up there as well. We then left and stopped at McDonalds on the way out of Yuba City. And man, the service was so slow, like it was slower than cold tar on a cold day. Anyway, we then went back to Lincoln to drop the interface back off. Then we drove straight to the mission office, to meet up with the rest of the team down here in the south, to go through our social media room and organize it. It was fun, just slow and tedious. But we got it done, well kind of. We then had to go to dinner at the Wrights' house! Now allow me to tell you about this family. They are an older couple, who look like Donald Trump, and he is one of the kindest members I have met out here. He has taken me under his wing to teach me life advice, or just to hang out. We have done lots of things together. I love this guy and his wife so much. He has literally been one of my biggest rocks out here, and especially in this area. I played my guitar and sang for them, I started singing and I looked up for a half a second to see him tell his wife this “Oh my gosh, his voice is amazing! I didn't know he could play the guitar and sing.” And yall that made my whole day, and I love making people's day by sharing my talents with them. We then went home and had a zoom call meeting with the SM team to go over the week. Then we got ready for bed, and went to bed. After some late night runs to the target to get hot wheels and a nerf gun.
On Sunday ⅕- Well today we had church, 9th ward was pretty good, it was fun and I love that ward because my favorite members the Wrights were there. I love them so much! Anyway, it was good. Then we had 1st ward, and it was I ain't kidding, the most boring church service I have attended my whole mission. It was so empty, and they had a guy playing the piano. And it was fine, but the music was slow and the piano hood was shut so it was quiet. But then we went to Sunday school, and it was pretty good. We then had our MCM, and we had a guy in there who is super clank, and was basically telling us that it's wrong to have someone baptized in the YSA, not in their home ward. It's a really stupid NGL, and anyway so we are/were kind of mad. But we don't really care, because at least someone is getting baptized. Anyway, we came home and had lunch. Then we did studies, and I took a nap because I was tired. Anyway, I then continued to work on editing a Faith On Fire episode. Then I had dinner, and then I finished writing this email to y'all. Then Elder Hall and Dedman came over for a sleep over.
Anyway that's it! See you next week!!!!
